Our roots in aggregates date back to 1917 when a small precast concrete manufacturer – Hancock Concrete – was founded in Western Minnesota. A quarter century later, Schmidgall Sand & Gravel was established and Son was supplying Dad with aggregate for the family’s precast plant.
Later – as the sand and gravel deposits spread – it was Grandson’s role to improve mobility of the processing equipment. Neighboring pits noticed and wondered if Grandson could modernize their mobility too.
Improving portability was our great differentiator and enabled Superior to expand regionally, then nationally and eventually internationally. As he built his brand, our founder taught us integrity, humility, work ethic and personal growth.
Today, those values empower our employees who manage our progress as a proud supplier to the aggregates industry.
