Morris, Minn. — Superior Industries, Inc., a U.S. based manufacturer and global supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems, is proud to announce that Belt Tech Industrial has been named a full line dealer of its growing group of bulk processing and handling equipment. For two decades, the Indiana-based company has distributed Superior’s brand of conveyor components. Now, with this expanded partnership, Belt Tech will additionally sell and service Superior’s crushing, screening, washing and conveying equipment throughout Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.

IPCD will stock Superior idlers and pulleys at its warehouse in Richfield, North Carolina.

Morris, Minn. — Superior Industries, Inc., a U.S. based manufacturer and global supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems, has hired Terry O’Hearn as its new conveyor components territory manager for the southcentral United States. O’Hearn will work with distributors in the region to market and sell conveyor components in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas.

Active in the industry since 1981, O’Hearn has 36 years of experience working with conveyor belting and components. Before starting at Superior, O’Hearn worked for Texas Bearing, helping the company open a new branch in Dallas.

O’Hearn was drafted by the Detroit Tigers out of high school and ended up playing two years of baseball at Western Michigan University where he graduated with a bachelor’s of business administration in marketing. O’Hearn’s sports background helped propel him into sales. “Being in outside sales fits that competitive mindset,” he says.

“I feel totally at home at Superior,” comments O’Hearn, adding, “I’ve been very impressed with the sales team and I’ve been completely convinced of the great company culture at Superior.

Universally mounting to all idler frames, Superior’s Safety Handrail helps prevent entanglement in belting. Depending on local MSHA standards, operators can use the Safety Handrail in place of an e-stop cable.

The handrail has a diameter of 1-¼ inches and is available in 8 or 10 foot lengths. Operators receive assembly hardware included with the part when they order. Extra pipe endcaps and extra brackets are available to order.

The Speed Sensor monitors the speed of a conveyor belt by producing electronic pulses interpreted by a PLC or Superior Speed Sensor module. The unit’s sensors help operators control conveyor shutdowns, monitor belt slippage, and trigger warning systems.

Fitted for CEMA C and D idlers, Superior Speed Sensors are available for belt widths ranging from 24 – 72 inches and are protected by a two year components warranty. They can be mounted on a clean side roll, return roll, or troughing wing roll.

The curved design of the Impact Cradle eliminates the space between the belt and bed, adding extra protection.

Designed to fit into an existing idler mounting footprint, the Impact Cradle is built to receive the blunt force of material flow at transition points in conveying systems, lessening the wear on the conveyor belt. Without support, conveyor belts are vulnerable to rips, tears, and other impact related damage. The Impact Cradle’s thick urethane segments absorb shock and dissipate contact energy, reducing conveyor belt wear and tear.

Fitted for CEMA C, D, and E idlers, the Impact Cradle is available in 20 and 35 degree trough angles for 5, 6, or 7 inch diameter roll heights.

The unit, which includes both a primary and secondary screen, gives operators more options for processing material and expands an application’s potential tons per hour produced.

Superior engineers designed the Guardian Horizontal Screen with a number of unique features to improve usability and maintenance.

• Patent pending bottle jack lifting points simplify and speed spring replacement and improve safety.
• A segmented belt guard and sectioned tailgate greatly lighten the loads of these two features, requiring only one person to remove and return the guards and gates during maintenance.
• Exclusive to Superior, and new to the industry, are bolt-locking, hinged access doors. The convenient feature allows access for screen media maintenance and hinges prevent operators from misplacing the spillage-preventing doors.
• A 100% fully-enclosed belt guard ensures maximum safety while an integrated, onboard tensioner accelerates maintenance to the motor belt.

The unit’s screens are designed with extended top deck discharge lips for accurate material transfer onto cross conveyors. The plant includes two 7 x 20 triple deck screens, each with 50 HP, 1200 RPM motors. Custom sizes are available.

Next Global Construction Industries Show Set for March 10-14, 2020 in Las Vegas, USA

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) announces Mary Erholtz, Vice President Marketing for Superior Industries, will chair the next CONEXPO-CON/AGG, set for March 10-14, 2020 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, USA.

Erholtz will lead a cross-section of industry leaders who come together in the show’s management committee to oversee planning of the construction industry’s global gathering place every three years in North America.

“Mary is a proven company leader and industry supporter and we are delighted she has accepted this leadership role; We know she and her committee will ably guide the show’s strategic direction to deliver enhanced customer connections and insights on the latest technologies and best practices,” said Sara Truesdale Mooney, show director and vice president exhibitions & business development, Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

Erholtz has more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing, and her family has been in manufacturing and the construction industry since 1917. Today she oversees the department’s strategic direction and aligns international projects with the company’s vision and objectives. She also plays a key role in the company’s product and service development group for crushing, screening, washing, conveying and components.

Erholtz has served on the CONEXPO-CON/AGG management committee, and she has been active in AEM, serving on the Association’s Board-level membership committee and has accepted a nomination to AEM’s CE Sector Board. She has also served on the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s Manufacturers & Services Board of Directors and Young Leaders.

Officially a distributor since January 1, 2017, Grant Aggregate will market, stock, and sell Superior idlers, pulleys, belt cleaners, and other conveyor accessories.

Grant Aggregate, in business since 1990, is headquartered in Sudbury, Ontario with additional warehouses in Ajax, Ontario and Winnipeg, Manitoba. The new partnership between Superior and Grant Aggregate will help supply aggregates and mining operations in Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.

Designed for straightforward, quick conveyor installations, the Exterra Secondary Belt Cleaner will debut at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017. Trade show attendees will be able to view the cleaner from March 7-11 at Superior’s booth (#C31955) in Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The Exterra Secondary Belt Cleaner will debut alongside a number of new equipment from Superior. “We’re excited to show the industry a lot of new products. We really work hard to be a solutions provider, to bring products to the market that solve a problem,” says Matt Wulf, Superior’s components operations manager.

Segmented into 3” urethane chunks with tungsten carbide tops, the belt cleaner’s blade is engineered for long life and efficient material shedding. Superior’s design allows the blade segments to individually conform to the belt for effective cleaning. Additionally, the cleaner’s blade angle is adjustable to accommodate mechanical and vulcanized splices.

The Exterra Secondary Belt Cleaner is designed for belt widths of 18”-72” (457 mm – 1828 mm) and belt speeds up to 1,000 FPM (5.1 m/sec).
