Superior’s Chevron® Pulley Upgraded Further For More Performance

Morris, Minn. – Superior Industries, Inc., a US-based manufacturer and global supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems, reports its newly redesigned Chevron Pulley is now available in abrasion resistant (AR) steel.

According to the conveyor components manufacturer, the use of abrasion resistant steel in manufacturing of conveyor pulleys enhances their durability, especially in applications handling aggressively wearing bulk materials. This reduces maintenance costs, improves operational efficiency, and ensures consistent performance in demanding environments.

In another recent design update, Superior removed the rounded cap on the wings for standard CEMA and Mine Duty models. Now, the entire wing is a wearable feature, which significantly increases the lifespan of the Chevron Pulley in all applications. The rounded wing caps are still optional for Mine Duty Models.

Superior’s 2007 invention of the v-shaped Chevron Pulley revolutionized wing performance, offering benefits such as material deflection, reducing trapped material, minimizing belting damage, lowering noise, and being gentler on belt splices and clips compared to traditional straight wing pulleys.

Superior Telestacker® Conveyor Automation Made Easier To Use

Morris, Minn. – Superior Industries, Inc., a US-based manufacturer and global supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems announces another advancement in its lineup of Guardian® Horizontal Screens with a brand-new heavy duty scalping model.

The new HD scalping screen handles a maximum feed size of 18-inches (457mm). This surpasses its medium-duty predecessor, which maxes out at 14-inches (355mm).

The HD screen is equipped with a perforated top deck, or punch plate, made of heavy-duty 3/4-inch AR steel. A slight slope facilitates the movement of feed material for efficient screening.

Superior manufactures more than a dozen models of its popular Guardian Horizontal Screen series in Columbus, Nebraska, one of its four American manufacturing facilities. Horizontal screens are available in two, three, or four-deck configurations and footprints from 5×16 to 8×20.

press release hero 48x210 TeleStacker Conveyor
The towering 210-feet TeleStacker Conveyor is shown next to a 136-feet model.

Morris, Minn. – Superior Industries, Inc., a US-based manufacturer and global supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems, recently completed design and manufacturing work on what they’re considering to be the world’s largest telescopic radial stacking conveyor.

The brand-new TeleStacker® Conveyor model is a 48-inch-wide by 210-feet-long telescoping conveyor (1220mm x 64m). It’s capable of building 425,000 ton stockpiles (315,000 cubic yards). Superior says the record-breaking stacker will be used to unload dry bulk ships along the Atlantic Coast in Florida.

Operators at the port will take advantage of the TeleStacker Conveyor’s PilePro™ Automation. This user-friendly, Superior designed and supported system automatically controls the stacker’s actions while building partially or fully-desegregated stockpiles. Some popular features include pile volume reporting, maintenance triggers and diagnostics screens.

In 2022, Superior is celebrating 25 years of manufacturing its famous TeleStacker® Conveyor. During that time, the conveyor has earned a reputation as the best tool for defeating costly material segregation while bulk stockpiling. Superior says it manufactures about a dozen standard sizes and is always willing to customize every inch of the conveyor for premiere performance in any application.

Superior Industries Reveals New All-In-One Mobile Ship Loading Conveyor

Morris, Minn. – Superior Industries, Inc., a US-based manufacturer and global supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems, recently completed development of a new model TeleStacker® Conveyor for loading dry bulk cargo ships. This multi-purpose, highly mobile conveyor incorporates truck unloading and ship loading capabilities into a single machine.

“Since expanding our TeleStacker Conveyor to marine-based applications in the early 2000’s, we’ve collected hundreds of data points, design preferences and functional requirements from operators and engineers,” says Scott Gulan, sales manager at Superior. “We gathered all of their feedback and combined it with the knowledge we’ve gained to produce an impressive, multi-functional ship loading conveyor.”

Mobility, says Superior, is one of the most important functions of the new Ship Loading TeleStacker Conveyor. All-wheel travel capability means moves are easy throughout confined quays and terminals including carousel, crab, parallel, inline and radial movements. Adjusting wheel positions takes less than a minute, which means moving from hatch to hatch or from storage to operation is easier and faster than ever. Many movements can take place during active material handling to maintain consistent feeding of the ship.

Radial travel and extension loads multiple holds from same footprint on the TSSL model.
Radial travel and extension loads multiple holds from same footprint.

Another important, groundbreaking feature is the conveyor’s integrated truck unloading system. That means the truck’s ramps, hopper and conveyor are all connected to the tail end of the TeleStacker Conveyor. Owners and operators will eliminate costly double-handling and preserve material quality from bed of truck to hold of ship. The incorporated truck unloader is operated by the same power source, which lifts or lowers the undercarriage during transportation or adjustment of the truck target.

“Since the unloading and loading machines are one, they move and operate seamlessly and neatly,” says Gulan. “This greatly reduces all the time it takes for operators who historically managed the relocation of several pieces of gear.”

TSSL Side Unload model has tight footprint for small spaces.

Superior says adding a Ship Loading TeleStacker Conveyor can improve your reputation as a good corporate neighbor as several environmentally-friendly features are incorporated into the design. These include fugitive material reduction and collection systems like fully-sealed transfer points and load zones, enclosed belting, drip pans, spray bars and dust collection systems. The mobile conveyors are quiet, compact and finished with corrosion resistant coatings and hardware.

The first TeleStacker Conveyor was manufactured in 1997 and the original unit still actively stockpiles at a quarry in the United States today. Twenty-five years later, Superior’s telescopic conveyor has earned top market share and is admired for heavy-duty engineering, high quality manufacturing, best in class components and big performance. Unique standard features include a patented undercarriage for rock-solid support, largest diameter cables, mechanically-designed safety components, load sharing stinger support rolls and a winch system installed away from any material drop zones.

“As a conveyor producer, one of Superior’s most significantly unique qualities is the design and manufacturing of our own idlers, pulleys and conveyor accessories,” says Gulan. “It’s the problem-solving characteristics of these conveyor parts that truly separate Superior’s material handling equipment as best-in-class.”

The Ship Loading TeleStacker Conveyor is best suited to load Panamax vessels and conveniently packages inside containers for overseas shipping. Models include units for both rear truck unloading and compact side unloading. The 170-foot-long (52m) conveyor’s belt is 42-inches (1,065mm) wide for production of up to 1,500 tons per hour (1,360 MTPH).
